The day is finally here!

I uploaded VALENCE late last night and it went live sometime in the early hours. It's available on Amazon here. I also made a SmartURL that will direct you to the Amazon site in your neck of the woods (13 countries represented): VALENCE.

Paperback is still in progress but should be available in a few days--and within a week the two pages will be merged.

Will you look at that cover? Another stunning beauty from Stephan Martiniere.

I will be emailing the audiobook narrator today and production will begin on the VALENCE audiobook as soon as she has an opening in her work schedule.

I also need to email my Russian publisher because they are ready to publish this work as well!

In other news...

I've made some changes to my oeuvre. ;D

I've always maintained that the reading order for my work should include The Druid Gene, but people don't seem to know it exists or that Darcy's storyline intertwines with Jane's.

So.

I am rebranding The Druid Gene as INHERITANCE and making it Confluence Book 3. Therefore, VALENCE is moved to slot #4.

I asked Galen Dara to rework the Druid Gene's cover so that it would fit well with the other books in the series to get it ready for a relaunch. I couldn't be happier. It's beautiful.

There are two more books to come in this series. Another book about Darcy and a 6th book where all the two storylines converge. CONFLUENCE. It was how I planned it all along, but it's been difficult figuring out how to package it. I hope this new labeling system works better.

Now I get to catch up on sleep. I've been burning the midnight oil AND the candle at both ends for what feels like months. After US Thanksgiving I will begin on book 5--can't wait!

Enjoy!

Don't hesitate to leave questions. I'm trying to keep up with social media today, but it's all very busy. I'll get to everything, I promise.

Finally, a word about book piracy. I'm a independent author. That means I am a self-contained publishing house. I hire all the same cover artists and editors that the big publishing houses do and I have to pay the same prices for that work as they do. I'm not a big conglomeration. I'm trying to make ends meet just like you are.

Piracy is illegal. It's dangerous (most sites have malware and viruses). And it does not reward an author for the time, energy, and money it takes to produce a quality work of entertainment. A latte is approximately the same cost as one of my ebooks. I deliberately price my books fairly, so that people can afford them, without devaluing the work that goes into them. You get quite a few more hours of enjoyment from a book than a coffee. Just saying.

I've been hearing reports of authors being dropped by publishers because they aren't selling enough books as a direct result of piracy. Some authors are leaving writing behind them altogether out of frustration. Please support authors (and artists, and musicians)--no matter who publishes them. Our world is richer for their work.

As always, READ ON!

Hi, Jen. Congratulations!

The rebranding of The Druid Gene as Inheritance came as a surprise but explains the puzzle of why Amazon calls Valence book 4, not book 3. That adds another something to listen to on commutes while I await the professional narration of Valence at Audible.

And, indeed, I'd not realized The Druid Gene were in the same universe, so the rebranding was probably a good idea. Though audible is still showing the old name, and it will be less confusing for those of us in the Audible universe when that detail is cleaned up--especially since the audiobook availability lags the other books and we in that universe are still in a kind of pre-launch era. I sent Audible email about Valence, noting interest and suggesting a pre-order page.

Great to read this update! I have downloaded the book already and am VERY excited to read the story. Just so happens I finished a SF last night and your book will be next. Good luck with books 5 and 6. Looking forward to a satisfying ending for all your wonderful characters.

Just finished Valence. WOW! Thanks for such an excellent read. Also read Inheritance just prior. Thanks for the rebranding, it fits nicely and I love the "confluence" of the stories. If you need any beta readers please add me to the list! (nashfire_56@kindle.com) Have awesome Holidays and get some rest! Chris Nash

Jennifer, excited to see the next book is out.. I just found out by checking in on your blog. Question.. I'm a little confused. Is #3 a stand alone story? If I wanted to pick up where #2 ended, would I go to #4 or should I read#3 first if some of that story line is merged into #1,2 &4?

The Confluence series is in the recommended reading order. Although book three contains new characters and new challenges, things that happen in the Druid Gene will impact your reading of the fourth book. So I'd read them in order for continuity if possible. But it's also possible to read them out of order. The two storylines will ultimately converge.

I have read the first 3 of the Confluence series back to back and couldn’t put my Kindle down. I am eager to find out what happens next in Valence. Really enjoy these books.

I stumbled across this series as a recommendation after finishing a different series and i was absolutely not disappointed. It only took me about 10 days to read all four books (my performance at work may or may not have suffered) and I loved them.

I can't wait for the next one! I'll be recommending these to all of my friends as well.

Daniel,

Thank you! And thank you for telling friends--word of mouth is absolutely the best way for people to find the books they'll love!

Read on!

Hi Jenifer,

I enjoyed the first two in the Confluence Series. Very imaginative SiFi and I am ready for the book 3 "Inheritance". But I see it is not available on Amazon and you don't have a presence on Apple (why that?). Anyway where can I get this book for either Kindle or iPad (stoped reading paper since my vision requires a larger font then typical on paper)?

Thanks!

It's out on Amazon Kindle. I suggest trying to search "Inheritance Confluence book 3" to find it. It was amazing by the way! I'm looking at the book now in my Kindle app, so it is there

Aurel,

I'm in communications with Amazon to figure out what is wrong. It's taking forever. This is the second time this has happened with no explanation. Rest assured I'm working on the problem. I found out about it less than 24 hours ago and they've replied to me but passed my inquiry on to another team, so they say they'll have an answer for me within two days. Argh! Hopefully soon!

Thanks for checking... the left hand does not know what the right one is doing! Amazon is loosing its luster.

I will keep checking Amazon again and again...

Aurel,

The confusion is over. Amazon released the chains and Inheritance is back up for sale--happy reading!

Also, as the the question about Apple. I am exclusive to Amazon because the other platforms just do not perform as well. They don't have good discoverability and the user base is much smaller. Amazon gives me lots of perks for being exclusive and I just had to make a business decision--what makes more money to feed/house/clothe my family. I've tried the other platforms in the past and lost a lot of income. If the industry changes, I may reconsider, but for now, even with this problem, Amazon is still very good to me. Thank you for your patience while I get them to fix it!

Far from me to tell you how to do your business... but in my experience exclusivity as enticing may be it always leads to problems. But how to find good books is been and it still is a challenge ... used to be the responsibility of a publisher to market a book.

... but I also believe in the word of mouth for a good book and I think you will do well. Keep writing!

Wow! These audiobook collections are stunning. I'm interested in INHERITANCE and VALENCE. I read some feedbacks regarding those. I think its more enough to get a copy of it. Thanks to you. You are one of those. I think I need to listen to those audiobooks too.

Jennifer I hope you are feeling well, and better.
Question: How do you write, or rather put your book together. Reson I ask is that recently I started using a voice to text program. Now; none are perfect, most are crappy; however, it does 80 to I would say....al.ost 90%, percent of the writing. 5hen before it gets to far ahead, I correct the most glaring errors, and worry about properly editing later on. But it does help out a lot. And for those programs that run even on an android cellphone, I simply cut and paste into a word program to keep main text, which after gets revised.
If yu do not use one; do, I find it very helpful because it does most of the heavy lifting.
Wish you get better, and healthier.
Love and admiration for you Jennifer.
Carlos.
